OUR FARM HISTORY
Vande Holsteins was established in the late 1940's when Bruce's parents, Glen & Marjorie Vande Zande, bought the farm from Glenn's Uncle Tom and Aunt Ruby. They began their herd by buying registered calves from area herds.
By the mid-1950's, their entire herd was made up of Registered Black & White Holsteins. In 1979, Bruce joined them and built their herd up to an entire homebred herd.
In 1997, Bruce's dad died and Bruce began a dream of his and bought his first Red & White Holstein. Wilstar RS Cranberry was his first purchase. Since that time, Bruce has worked hard to build up to a 95% Registered Red & White Holstein herd.
The Vande Zande family enjoys being in the show ring and takes in about five shows a year with World Dairy Expo being the highlight. Vande Holsteins has been successful in the show ring with winning Grand Champion of the Junior Show, All-Americans, Junior All-Americans and many other awards.
Vande Holsteins looks to the future with trying to expand their Red & Whites and continuing to market bulls and embryos. Visitors are always welcome!
